The New Beverly has another big Grindhouse Film Festival event coming up: TWO THOUSAND MANIACS! (1964) at 7:30pm and TENDER FLESH {aka WELCOME TO ARROW BEACH, 1974) at 10pm. The former film is directed by legendary gore auteur Herschell Gordon Lewis and stars William Kerwin and Connie Mason. TENDER FLESH was directed by actor Laurence Harvey (THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE). Laurence Harvey co-stars with Joanna Pettet, Stuart Whitman, John Ireland and Meg Foster. Here is the press release for the event:
- Our next Grindhouse Film Festival event at the New Beverly Cinema is coming up on Tuesday, May 13th, with another mind-blowing double-feature. We'll be presenting an absolute classic from director Herschell Gordon Lewis and producer David F. Friedman, TWO THOUSAND MANIACS! This 1964 follow-up to their groundbreaking gore sickie BLOOD FEAST is the best of Lewis' films and his personal favorite, and remains an over-the-top crowd pleaser forty-four years (!!!!) after it's initial release.
- We'll also be screening the rarely seen TENDER FLESH (aka WELCOME TO ARROW BEACH), directed by actor Laurence Harvey (star of such films as THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE and ROOM AT THE TOP and father of bounty hunter Domino Harvey) and completed from his death bed as he was dying of stomach cancer. The great cast in this bizarro cannibal film includes Laurence Harvey along with Meg Foster, Joanna Pettet, Stuart Whitman and John Ireland. Don't miss this double-feature!
- The event starts at 7:30pm, and admission for the two features plus a reel of rare exploitation trailers and a free raffle is only $8.00. For additional information and schedules for upcoming events, visit our MySpace page at www.myspace.com/grindhouse.
