Seems like the New Beverly just had a monthly Grindhouse double bill this mont. In fact, the New Beverly did have a monthly Grindhouse double bill this month: BLOOD DINER and SCREAM BLOODY MURDER on April 6! Oh well, I guess they're bi-monthly now. Anyway, here is the press release on the latest installment, which features THE HAZING and THE REDEEMER:
- On Tuesday, April 29th, Brian Quinn and Eric Caidin will present the next installment in their ongoing series of Grindhouse Film Festival events at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. This special event will feature screenings of rare 35mm prints of THE HAZING (1977) and 1978's THE REDEEMER: SON OF SATAN! . THE HAZING will be introduced by the director and cast members, with a Q&A immediately following the film.
Director Doug Curtis' THE HAZING (aka The Curious Case of the Campus Corpse) tells the twisted tale of a college freshman who witnesses the death of another pledge while undergoing a fraternity hazing. Stars Jeff East (Pumpkinhead, Deadly Blessing, Superman), David Hayward (Van Nuys Blvd., Delusion) and Jim Boelsen (Strange Behavior) will join director Doug Curtis for a Q&A after the film.
THE REDEEMER: SON OF SATAN! (aka Class Reunion Massacre), from director Constantine S. Gochis, is a bizarre, atmospheric horror film with strong religious overtones and some creative murders. This mind-boggling film is one that will stick with you for a long time, and should not be missed in this very rare screening.
The event starts at 7:30pm, and admission for the double feature plus a reel of rare exploitation trailers and a free raffle is only $8.00.

By the way, Joe Dante's festival at the New Beverly is wrapping up. Tonight is a double bill of BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW and HORROR EXPRESS. Tomorrow is THE MOVIE ORGY, a montage of clips assembled by Joe Dante in 1968 from public domain features, Army training films, and old commercials.
