Cult film A BOY AND HIS DOG is screening at the Nuart Theatre at midnight tonight.
The film stars a young Don Johnson as a scavenger in post-WWIV American who has a telepathic bond with a dog. This was based on a novella by Harlan Ellison, who liked the film but decried the sexist ending (an ending echoed in the recent direct-to-video zombie flick UNDEAD OR ALIVE).
I only ever saw this film once, and for all the hoopla it seemed a bit over-rated; still, it was oddball enough to be worth checking out.
A midnight movie screening is the perfect way to experience A BOY AND HIS DOG - all the more so because director L.Q. Jones will be on hand to discuss his movie afterward.
