Willy Wonka screening

  • Posted by: Steve Biodrowski
  • Location: Bay Theatre - 340 Main Street, Seal Beach, CA 90740

The Bay Theatre in Seal Beach has been a little slow about updating their calendar lately, so their screenings don't always make it into Hollywood Gothique's calendar. This weekend offers a good example: The original WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, starring Gene Wilder, will be begin a three-day engagement.

  • Sunday, Dec. 9th at 6:00pm
    Monday, Dec. 10th at 8:15pm
    Wednesday, Dec. 12th at 8:15pm

Although based on the same novel that inspired 2005's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, the 1971 musical version feels like a totally different movie. The novel's author, Roald Dahl apparently did not approve of the changes to the story, but the movie is actually very good.
